Welcome to Hillwood

Hillwood is a comfortable, friendly, family home on the outskirts of Rosewell, a quiet village near Rosslyn Chapel. With stunning views over the Pentland Hills to the front of the property and the Moorfoot Hills to the rear, Hillwood is surrounded by farmland and is the perfect location for exploring Midlothian and the City of Edinburgh.

Open fires and a warming Aga in the kitchen combine to make this a charming spot for a short break. On arrival, it is our custom to welcome you with tea and home-made scones. This is served in the sitting room with it's warming coal fire, comfortable seating, and plentiful supply of books and literature on Scotland.

Breakfast is served in the wood panelled dining room. You can choose from a selection of cereals or porridge, yoghurt, fruit, toast, fruit juices, tea or coffee and a full Scottish Breakfast cooked to order on the Aga stove. The dining room also has a piano and a selection of traditional musical instuments.

At the bottom of the garden, a gate leads to a trail through the woods and the open countryside where you can walk or cycle for miles and enjoy nature at its best.

Close to the city bypass which connects to the motorway network and only 8miles from Edinburgh city centre, it is an ideal country location within easy reach of the city. Hillwood has ample parking in the private drive, however there are frequent buses to Edinburgh city centre and the bus stop is only 50 metres away.

The owner has an excellent knowledge of places of interest in the area and enjoys welcoming visitors from all over the world (she speaks fluent French).
